My parents are senior research scientists at some small sized company and not sure if they can buy the stocks. I told them to just ask the ceo but they don’t want to for some reason. When my parents produce some results and the ceo announces the result to the public, apparently the stocks go up. Would it be insider trading if my parents buy stocks in this case? Also would it be illegal if I bought them?
I asked them why didn’t you just ask for stock options but they are immigrants whose never worked for a company in america and really bad at negotiations.
