Sorry if this is the wrong subreddit for this, looked around and it doesn’t seem like there’s a sub specifically for stockbrokers/industry guys so here I am.
I’m currently entering my third year as a licensed mortgage loan officer and obviously as I’m sure you guys know we’re getting murdered right now. I’m still producing which is more than what 60% of all LOs can say right now, but it’s not enough. My sales skills are top notch and while I know this market can come back around I fear my skills would be better suited elsewhere. I’m only 28, I know I can do more with this time.
TLDR, here’s the question:
As someone who doesn’t have a degree, is it even worth pursuing a series 7? I’m not sure how the hiring process looks in this industry but in ours if you have a pulse and a license they’ll give you a chance to be thrown to the wolves. If you make it out, great. If not, the company loses practically nothing canning your ass. Being that I have a couple years in the finance industry with a proven record of production and enough competency to pass the MLO test, would I have a shot at all? I’m not underestimating the series 7, I understand it would be a tremendous undertaking. That’s why I’m asking if this is even worth pursuing.
TIA
