I opened my account a few years ago, just after the covid bounce back. It was a really wild time to try and learn the stock market, but I had a lot of fun. Made a few good decisions, made a few bad decisions. Made a few decisions that could pay off later. Learned a lot either way.
But I am getting tired with it at the moment. It takes a lot of dedication to keep up on news, learn all the business maneuvers going on, and then when it goes poorly it kinda stinks, which has worn down my desire to stay on top of it. I also just became a dad, and that is where I want to put my focus and spare time (and spare money.)
My account is small, only a few thousand dollars total and it was all “learning the stock market” money so I don't need it for anything. Would it be alright to just leave my account as-is and take a break to refresh my brain and smell the flowers? Should I let my broker manage it and take the silly fee?
Not looking for financial advice, but if *you* were going to take a break, what is the most responsible thing to do with your account in the meantime?
