The company I’ve been with for a of couple years was recently purchased by an investment firm with the intent to sell in 5 years or sooner. They “awarded” employees GPUs (Growth Participation Unit), which were determined by your yearly wage. This sounds like a phantom stock.
They claim when the company sells, the GPUs will equate to an entire years salary. If this is reality, should I be concerned with being laid off at the last minute to avoid a payout? My position is very niche and critical for future product development.
Anyone go through an experience like this? What was the outcome? Should I be overly concerned? If I get let go the day before the sale, imma riot!!!!!
