I was thinking to myself – if the news channels and investing platforms wouldn't show the stock price but some other fundamental metric then what would you prefer it be? If this were to be the case, it would
1. help us invest more soundly on a fundamental basis ;
2. avoid people "fomoing" into a stock when it has run up and,
3. also help us to avoid selling when the stock price has fallen - as seeing the fundamental metric instead of the stock price would provide us with a better info - or even the calrity to buy the stock as its now available cheaper.
For eg: For AMZN P/OCF is touted as a better measure to keep track of for investing into AMZN. If below 20/22 then it's touted as a good buying opportunity and not a good opportunity if its above that.
What would your preferred metric be? I understand its not possible to have a one-size-fits-all metric but as it's a thought experiment, we are not limited – we can even have multiple metrics but the key is the stock price is hidden.
