The point of this is to provide clarity relative to the popular talking point around the index being propped up by a handful of stocks. Though market cap weighting and extreme outperformance certainly result in the ‘magnificent 7’ doing a lot of lifting, it’s also true that there are many other companies pulling alongside them.
