Help understanding employer options

I am working on a private company that grants employees stock options. So far I have vested 2000 stock options.
I am using the stock options app and trying to simulate exercising all options , where it shows FMV is $2. The total option exercise cost then comes to $4k.
So this means I pay $4k to get 2000 stocks?
I am just trying to understand how much is my stock options worth.

Any help to teach me how it works would be appreciated.
