Why is VOO the one S&P ETF that everybody seems to recommend?

I would like to buy S&P 500, but with my broker I would need additional bureaucracy to buy VOO. So I was wondering why everyone here seems to recommend this one specifically. I am able to buy iShares Funds easily and would simply stick to that if its all the same, but I am not sure if I am overlooking relevant differences here.
