How to spinoffs typically affect stocks? Any clue what happens to my GM stock if Cruise LLC does spinoff and go public?

As a shareholder, I'm trying to determine if a spinoff would affect me positively or negatively? Would there be a sharp increase or decrease in the stock price if announce/executed?
Thanks for any input! Obviously you can't predict outcomes, but what would be likely to occur?
