How do I begin with stock investing? Where do I even start?

I am already quite heavily invested into funds, but I want to venture into stock trading.

I see people living off their stocks, where do I begin with this? I have like a few stocks in Apple, 1 or 2 in Microsoft etc, it totals about 1500$

Is this all that stock trading is? where do people find good promising stocks?
