Pruning my stock portfolio

I find myself in a position where I'm going to have to come up with a substantial amount of cash to pay income taxes. Over the last 14 months I started a portfolio with a brokerage app. with stocks and funds I found interesting. Recently my portfolio was down a lot but seems to have recovered to the point of breaking even in the past week or so.

Is pruning my portfolio (I haven't sold any of these stocks yet) probably a better idea than some other options? My other options are a no-interest loan from a grouchy relative who'll be kicking and screaming about it, sell some physical silver or gold, or borrow from my Credit Union.

Any advise, or tips to an investing novice would be greatly appreciated.
