I decided to sell my ATVI stock given the imminent acquisition by MSFT. Only 3% of upside left so I decided to sell.
Tomorrow, I turn 29 and have 10 years left before I retire. In the past, my portfolio was very concentrated with 6 stocks, including 3 in video games, and 4 in tech. Over the next 10 years, I want to be more diversified to ensure I'm on track to retire on my timeline and with less free time to do intense research being diversified protects me from risks if any of my stocks do poorly. I still will do my due diligence doing weekly research, reviewing the earnings calls, and reviewing the 10-Ks, but just not at the same intense detail when I was younger with more free time. With today's moves, I'm now in: EA, IDXX, ROKU, TTWO, ZTS, CMG, CROX, LYV, and ZTS.
Just to share my quick thoughts on my new additions. Except NVIDIA, all of these stocks are easy for me to understand since I know what they sell, how they make it, and how they make money
CMG: I think it's the best restaurant stock out there. People love the food like me who eats there every day and they have a lot of rook to expand in the U.S. & internationally.
CROX: Shoes are cheap but very profitable. There's also a mismatch between being only a $8b market cap and how big this company is today and how much bigger it will be in the future given how popular their shoes are. My mom works at TJ Maxx and tells me how popular these shoes sell and I own two pairs even though I haven't bought any new clothes in 8 years
LYV: I used to own this and was my best performer but I sold like an idiot during COVID. People are still traveling like crazy, they love to watch their favorite artists, and this business simply isn't going away. People have been watching their favorite music & sports stars since Ancient Rome
NVIDIA: I just want to get on the AI train. A massive run-up, I'm not a computer scientist that understands how AI chips work, so what could go wrong lol? This is why my new mindset with being diversified is helping me understand that I don't need to know everything like an expert, can invest in my gut, and if I'm wrong I'm still in 8 other stocks.
