Microsoft $MSFT wins US court approval to acquire Activision $ATVI

The decision is a major boost for Microsoft, which is hoping to become a major player in the mobile gaming market. Activision Blizzard is the publisher of popular mobile games such as Candy Crush and Call of Duty Mobile.

The deal would be the largest acquisition in Microsoft's history. It would also make Microsoft the third-largest gaming company in the world, behind Tencent and Sony.

The FTC argued that the acquisition would give Microsoft too much power in the gaming market, and that it would lead to higher prices and less innovation.

However, Judge Corley found that the FTC had not shown that the deal would likely harm competition. She noted that Microsoft had made commitments to keep Call of Duty on PlayStation consoles for 10 years, and to bring Activision's content to other platforms, such as Nintendo Switch and cloud gaming services.

The deal is a sign of the growing importance of the gaming industry. The gaming industry is now worth billions of dollars, and it is only expected to grow in the years to come. As a result, tech companies are increasingly looking to acquire gaming companies in order to gain a foothold in this growing market.
