Lost Shares: No Internship

I was gifted $500 in McDonalds stock around 13 years ago, which has since been lost. I’ve talked to the transfer agent and the broker, but have been unable to verify my ownership.
– the shares were purchased by my grandpa through fidelity
– computershare and fidelity cannot verify my ownership (due to a lack of records)

I was accepted into an internship in London for my dream job, but the flights and extra costs are expensive, and this might make or break this opportunity.

Is there any other avenues I could explore? Any help is much appreciated
