How much does investing in ETFs help companies in its holdings?

Say you want to buy an ETF that focuses solely on a specific country or industry. How much do those companies benefit from you buying an ETF? I would imagine not much since an ETF buys shares of that company based on how well a company is doing and not the other way around.
