My stock picking financial adviser had full discretion over my portfolio. He's made a few trading errors, costing me significant realized losses and taxable events. These are trading errors, not market movement, so I know it is a lack of controls in his business. I just fired him and moving assets in kind elsewhere.
I don't know exactly how many different stocks I own, but I want to figure out next steps. Guessing 50 to 100 stocks. (The portfolio is currently 5 different tax deferred accounts that can't be combined. I'll pull holdings once they have been transferred.) I would like to quickly learn how to assess which stocks to keep and which to sell. I know that I'm asking for a very difficult/impossible task, and the simplest/best solution would be to hire someone else, but I simply do not trust anyone at this point!
