I’ve been in the market for a long time and some of my gains are getting juicy (not all positions, I wish). I recently cashed out on one of my big winners and im pretty sure it boosted me into a new tax bracket for the year. Made me think that if I wanted to access all my funds to trade for Real Estate. I would incur not just capital gains but a higher tax rate? Am I correct?
Made me think that I should cash out winners in small batches to pay taxes at a lower rate and redeploy capital so if I did want to access say 500k (I don’t have this amount, but hope to get there) I wouldn’t get hit with a ridiculous tax rate. Am I thinking correctly or am I missing something in the equation?
