Best strategy for selling specific lots of the same stock (some loss, some long-term gain, some short-term gain)?

I have ~1000 shares of stock that I would like to liquidify. 500 are in the red (acquired at a higher price), 500 are in the green (acquired at a lower price). Of the 500 in the green, 250 are long-term capital gains (acquired over a year ago), and 250 are short-term capital gains.

Which shares should I sell first, and why?
