If the whole Economy goes close to a full blown depression, What stocks should I buy?

This is a hypothetical, but my friend who I trust said within the next year that the country would fall even further into this recessions, maybe even depression levels, now I know its bleak, but if it happened, what stocks would I look at, or would I jus buy gold and silver now.
