Credit Suisse. What were some major negative developments over the last 10-20 years that made it lag so badly?

What has been the story with Credit Suisse over the last decade? It is now a $2 stock, which reeks of some failed (bubble) stock. In the same 10 years, GS JPM BAC MS are all up big.

I always perceived CS as a global powerhouse bank, yet the stock crashed in 2001 and never really recovered. $20 stock in 2003. $80 stock in 2007. Then a slow bleed for the next 15 years to $10 pre-COVID. Was still $10 in 2021. It is now a $2 stock.
