What happens when you are short a stock that gets halted or even stops trading and goes bankrupt? For example, if SVB goes to zero and you are short stock, who do you buy the stock back from if it ceases to trade or even goes to zero?
Is it possible that not only are longs screwed but shorts are as well if there are no shares available to buy back?
