recommendations/ questions on long term investments

extremely new to investing, trying to learn as much as i can. i’d like to invest $100-$200 every week from my paycheck into a low risk stock or ETF, i’ve been told to invest in Vanguard Total Stock market ETF or SPY, does it matter which one i invest in and do y’all have any recommendations
