Why do some stock ticker symbols have versions with a “^” and “-IV” at the end?

On the iPhone, the stock app often shows a ticker symbol, along with secondary results. For example, there is the SVAL ticker which corresponds to the NYSE iShares US Small Cap Value Factor ETF. But there is also the ^SVAL-IV ticker which says NYSE MKT iShares US Small Cap Value Factor ETF.

The ^SVAL-IV ticker contains no data though. What is it for?
