I’m just now getting into stocks and I’m wondering if there’s anything complex I should know about

Hello. I’ve been thinking about investing for a while but never really jumped the gun to get into it out of fear of losing money, but I figured I might as well. What I’ve been doing is looking at the behavior a stock has had over the past 1 or 2 years and keeping an eye out for if it looks like it’s going to have similar behavior. Also, it seems as though it’s best to look at monthly behavior and then once it gets low, wait for it to go green for ~a week or so and then buy into it. Is this a good strategy or is it more complex than that?
