I am just trying to wrap my head around how investors pour money into companies that have been making negative net profit over the years. Examples such as Uber with over 70B market cap and Spotify with 23B market cap. Is it just the positive sentiment and hope that at some point there will a turnaround? Or what is the investment strategy that could justify adding such companies to your portfolio?
