What’s your comfort level for living off investments?

For those of you who intend to reach financial independence, or at least live off of your investment income, I'm wondering what your portfolio target number is. Not asking what you're invested in necessarily or how much you currently have in the market, although if you're willing to share those details I'm glad to talk about them. Mostly curious what number in the market you are going after, maybe how you intend to get there, and how you got to that number.

For my own part my uncomfortable minimum for personal investments to live off of is probably about 350k in a personal account. That would be about a bare minimum I think, and having any more than that like say 500k begins to put more buffer and comfort in how things would go. That might seem low for some people, but I live in a relatively low cost area of the US. I know from life experience that I don't need tons of money to live, I've had my highs and lows in life. I've had times where I make no money and other times where I make too much money. All that crap is fickle. These days I just save and invest.

Anyway curious to hear tales from people on this quest and what your goal is, if you're willing to share. I think likely we're all different with different needs, but I think this information could also be valuable to share and discuss.
