Question: I found old GTE stock certificates that belonged to my grandmother. Are they still valid?

The stock certificates are stamped 1983 and in my grandmothers name, but I am the trust holder (she passed several years ago) and GTE was purchased by Verizon….

Are these valid? If so, how would I look up the value?
