Should I learn stock investment?

I don't want stock investment before because I see my parents crazy about it for a period of time when I was a kid. They don't earn much and waste time so they quit. So I think it is a waste of time too.

I am 26 now, almost no saving and unemployed. I like playing old games and I accidentally encountered a people streaming old games on Bilibili. Since the games he streaming are too old, there are no audience and so I became friend with him.

Then I just found it wired, why he can play games all day and doesn't need to work? I tried my best to ask him why and finally he told me that he is good at stock investment and he is financial independence now.
God I want life like that. However, he also strongly told me that 99.9999% of people are not suitable for stock investment.

I start to read books, like Jesse Livermore. But questions come up too, I need advice!

  1. Am I suitable for it? I am quiet and shy, thoughtful, clever and good at research. For some reason, I think the jobs I can get are not promising, and I just like spending time alone all day in my room so if I can live on stock investment that would be great!

  2. He said he don't read a lot of books( just few of them) and still succeed in stock investment, which I am confused about. I think there are more and more to learn, from technological analysis to trading system. It is because he is gifted so he just don't need that? or just I take it too complicated?

Sorry for my poor English and thanks for reading such long!
