I am still new, and would like to learn about fiscal year usage in press releases. Why do some companies use year+1 for the revenue report? For example, this one: https://nvidianews.nvidia.com/news/nvidia-announces-financial-results-for-third-quarter-fiscal-2023
Why does it say “Q3 FY23” when the report was released in November 2022? I thought this number was supposedly for FY22? Can someone explain? For comparison, Microsoft recent release is this: https://www.microsoft.com/en-us/Investor/earnings/FY-2022-Q3/performance
Here MSFT used the term “FY22 Q3”, which is correct, but NVDA use the term “Q3 FY23” which is like a future tense, can someone explain?
