I recently sold a stock at a loss to harvest some tax savings for the end of the year. I then bought an ETF in my Roth IRA without a second thought. I was thinking and realized that this ETF holds a small amount of the stock I recently sold at a loss.
I’m concerned if I just eliminated my tax savings by triggering a wash sale by purchasing an ETF in my Roth that contains the stock I sold.
Does buying an ETF that holds a stock you sold at a loss trigger a wash sale?
