ETFs vs individual stocks

  1. You can be right on the industry/sector but wrong on the specific company within that area so I prefer ETFs.
  2. IMO, High flying specs should only encompass maybe 5% of one's portfolio. So let's talk the other 95%.
  3. Buy and hold is categorically inferior to tactical asset allocation (TAA) where TAA trades/rebalances once a month. Takes 20 minutes.
  4. Folks generally have no framework for making investment decisions. If your investment rules ain't written down, then they ain't real, and becomes news and emotion driven which is not good.
  5. Many younger folks have limited choices with company 401K's but still have no tactical framework for how to allocate assets.
  6. A better sleep at night solution is what I use, which is Allocate Smartly. I'm a paying member there and not associated with them in any other way.
  7. I asked them to set up a user blog thingy like reddit but they didn't want to go there, so I opened a subreddit myself and seeded it with a bunch of what I think is useful stuff.
  8. I'd encourage folks here to take a look. Sub name is AllocateSmartly
  9. I'd probably start with the Some Free Blog Posts thread to get you started. Thanks
