I’ve been working on understanding the timing and mechanics of option trading on Etrade. I bought just one option to practice with for a company that I researched and felt confident would have a positive earnings call at close last night. I woke up this morning before the bell with the intention of selling my option when/if the market reacted to the earnings call. I was up about $100 for maybe 30-90 seconds when the market opened and then it dropped to where I have no reason to close it anymore. My question is: how do you capitalize on that opening bell bump? Set a limit with a guess on the night before? I can’t seem to figure out the timing and lost out on profit. Thanks!
