Any idea how much trading is done by machines nowadays? Remember the debate of viral videos and what causes a video to go viral? A tiny surge made at the right time would push algorithms to act and a video would spring to the front of web pages. The market moves similarly now. This volatility makes fund managers so much money. It just annoys me to watch these huge dramatic swings happen across 15-20 minutes only to go flat after the move. Our whole financial system is a smoke screen.
I have made zero moves on anything the last 2 months. I'm not making or losing money that matters. I just watch and wait… And get annoyed. After the algorithms have had their fun the media changes the narrative to match the outcome.
I re-watched the big short last weekend. What a great movie. I'm moving to Ethiopia and becoming a munk.
