My dad is currently 52 and is looking to make some smart investment moves before he retires in ~13 years. He currently has about $250,000 in a 401k that he hasn’t touched in 10 years which has averaged 9.33% return over its life, but took a 34% decline this year. His employer doesn’t offer any retirement benefits. He wants to start investing money monthly until the day he retires so he can have a decent chunk saved up. While he is starting late in life, a lot can still happen in 13 years. What advice would you advise? He’s mentioned ibonds, which I know nothing about. I’ve had a Roth IRA since 20 years old that I DCA each month into ETFs. Is he too old to start a Roth IRA due to taxes? My dad and my mom bring home about $160,000 gross combined annually. Is there a better retirement account the roll his 401k money into and start investing? Any advice helps, thanks!
