I have always wondered about the market news and prices being delayed by 15 minutes unless you pay for a premium trading platform service.
When the North American markets open at 9.30pm EST M-F, they know if it is instantly up or down, along with the reflected stock price. Any internet searches, business channels like Bloomberg present stock prices right as the market open.
Are these stock prices at market open and for the first 15 minutes the prices from after hours trading?
