Individual stocks or index ETF?

I’m more of a crypto guy but I’m starting to get into stocks. I understand the differences between individual stocks and index ETFs but I’d like some opinions on which you prefer. I like the fact that an S&P 500 index ETF has the most exposure to the bigger stocks that I’m interested in, but I’m not sure about having to pay income taxes on it at the end of the year, whether I sell or not. It just seems easier than picking 5-10 individual stocks and trying to DCA into them and keep track of them all.

What say you?
