I may be alone here, but I can't stand the sentiment of “Just buy ETFs” for almost every post or comment looking for advice. Yes, almost no one beats the market, simple ETFs will most likely outperform individual portfolios. That's what r/investing is for. We buy individual stocks to personalize our portfolio, to go with our own convictions, to ideally beat the index's, and to have some fun. I took a beating on Sofi because of this sub, I made MONEY on AMD because of this sub. In r/stocks I don't want a comment saying I should yolo margin into 0DTE TSLA OTM calls, and simultaneously don't want comments saying my entire portfolio should be SPY/VTI.
