my dad is a ship manager. he told me to sell everything i had because the ships are coming empty from china.

So basically i have a small portfolio less than 6k. Recently my father told me that the Indonesian/Chinese cargo ships to Europe have fewer containers than even pre COVID levels.
Since containers have to be booked at least 30 days ahead of the loading day. He told me that for the next 3 months he has only seen this level of cargo charges in 2008-2009.

Is he overthinking? Over speculation? Should i just take my tiny profit and get out ?

Edit 1: streetangle made an interesting point that the BDi is also crashing pointing to a contraction of business operations.
