Is investing in the healthcare industry the best long term play?

I was reading an article from Stansberry Research, it was mostly on how the education system affects our financial status and wellbeing (that's a discussion for another time), and they had briefly talked about the healthcare sector:

Meanwhile, the Baby Boomers – our country's next-largest generation – are aging into retirement. By 2030, one in five Americans will be 65 or older.

That demographic shift will put unprecedented stress on health care and Social Security systems… the former of which is broken and the latter of which is going broke. (As we've said recently, this also means a big opportunity for growth in the health care sector.)

Not much backstory or context was provided, so I wasn't exactly sure if their statement “this also means a big opportunity for growth in the health care sector” is valid.

The healthcare sector may not necessarily be the BEST sector for growth, but would it be good enough to enjoy some nice returns?

What are your thoughts?
