I pick stocks. I don't trade often, but 100% of my investments are stocks as opposed to funds.
I'm tired of breaking even.
I research my stocks thoroughly – what the business does, how it competes in its market, balance sheets, cash flow sheets, and the P/E.
I made a lot of losses early on before I knew what a P/E ratio was. I bought green on big tech and I have paid for it for a year. I've only just clawed back to where I started.
I hate the idea of passive investing. But honestly? I don't know if I can take the embarrassment of more failed stock picks. Every time I get it wrong, I know it was 100% my fault. At least the passive investors can claim that it's the market's fault
