Tldr: Advice/Criticism for a new investor/student
Hello, I am a 16yr, turning 17, attending university this fall. I’ve saved up ~14000 dollars through jobs and scholarships, with 5000 of that sitting on the sidelines in case of an emergency. All of my expenses other than food are covered through my government and scholarship. My family is not wealthy in any way, with my family around the average income. I started investing about 3 years ago, with the majority of my purchases after February this year. I’m also diversified into physical gold bullion with a few ounces. I am down 3.82% on all investments as of now. I also hold a few dividend stocks just in case my sister is not lucky enough as I was to get scholarships/grants (4/5 year time horizon) so that I’ll be able to help my parents where I can. I’m getting a double degree in Business and Math with coop. I would love any advice the community has in general given my circumstances! Unfortunately I am not American, so I-bonds are out of the equation. I have put my portfolio below for anyone interested (also open to advice there as well)
S&P – 23%
MSFT, AAPL, GOOG – 35%
Dividend (BNS, KO, MCD) – 32%
Airline Bet – 10%
