Going to buy a California house next year and have $500k to store. Currently sitting in Vanguard Money Market VMRXX. Any other place to put this to get more safe return for the year? Or would you consider this a good place for such? We may not put down all $500k,but since the house price here is around $1.5M that means at least $300k down. Hopefully the housing market tanks (unlikely). Thoughts?
