Why did the markets react so… predictably today?

Yes, a lot of the current correction has been caused by looming rate hikes, but at least some of it was from the Ukraine-Russia crisis.

After so many days of fear-mongering, why do the markets react well to the actual invasion. Can investors not see 5 days out in front of them? This seems like a textbook case of selling the news (well, in this case buying it).

Please don't say it's caused by uncertainty because that doesn't make sense. If that were true than the certainty of a war beginning today should have sent markets tumbling.
