Finally after a lot of calls to eTrade they finally reversed the transfer. Today. Took them one month to return everything. Palantir is up a little so didn't lose any money.
What I found out was amazing, one gullible rep from eTrade told me the truth.
Someone has my Schwab account number and SSN. I don't know how. They opened an account at eTrade. (Spelling of my name was incorrect by the way and so was date of birth). Etrade made a credit check but since my credit score was frozen, inquiry was rejected. What is annoying is that eTrade still went ahead and opened the account (I suppose to meet their targets) and the thieves put in a transfer request to transfer.my entire account from Schwab to eTrade. Schwab without notifying me completed the transfer. WTF.
Now this scares me to death. eTrade needs to be punished for lack of controls.
I had opened an account with Schwab just for gambling but a stock and forget about it. Don't check what is the balance. Now it seems like a bad idea.
