What happens when you buy a stock that is doing a stock split via dividend, after the record date?

Sorry if this is a very basic question. But if, say, Google's record date for their stock split via dividend was July 1, but if the dividend (19 additional shares for each share of Google) won't be distributed until after market close on July 15, what happens to all those that purchase Google between July 2 and July 15? Surely they must also receive the dividend?
