Fed Worse Case Scenario – Hyperinflation?


Just read an article this morning on the Fed and markets. Writer talks about the worse case scenario for US that could lead to hyperinflation. I don't think it is likely, but what do you guys think?

Worse Case Scenario With The Fed

The most significant risk I see for the coming year, which is a worst-case scenario, is that:

  1. The Fed is unable to stop inflation (which is a no-brainer).
  2. Attempts to combat it result in a recession (another no-brainer).
  3. The Fed decides that fighting inflation during a recession is too painful and risks a severe economic depression.
  4. The Fed reverses course, loosens monetary conditions, and increases inflation.
  5. The Fed is If this series of events takes place, Ray Dalio’s inflationary depression scenario becomes plausible.
