I’m curious what the consensus here is for the best app for investing as a retail investor.
I am currently using Robinhood, and I like Robinhood because it’s easy to use and has some good features; that said, I’ve been looking for other brokerage apps. The announcement today that Robinhood will now use “not held” for fractional shares may send me over the edge of transferring to another brokerage.
What would you guys suggest for someone who sometimes throws in $5 towards their portfolio, and other times throws in $1,000? I still want DRIP, fractional trading, and instant deposits. Robinhood has been the best for me so far for these reasons, but I feel it may be heading downhill.
I don’t want any suggestions such as, “Robinhood is corrupt, get out ASAP!” because I don’t really care about the whole GME drama.
What I’m facing now, if I do end up transferring, is a $100 transfer fee and all of my fractional shares being liquidated. So I’m looking for solid brokerages to switch to. I know that some brokerages offer to cover a transfer fee, and that would be a huge plus.
Looking for any suggestions.
