What’s your opinion on a good number of stocks to diversify a 10.000,- portfolio?

Like the title says: Let's say you're starting out with a $10.000,- portfolio, you have done your research and have a couple dozen good stocks and ETF's in sight. How many of those would you buy for a good diversified portfolio while keeping fees low and being able to keep track of all companies?

Of course naming an exact number wouldn't make much sense, but I'm very interested too see in what range I should be thinking. 20? 5? Just one?
