Maybe we will recover this year, maybe not. We could see a real and serious effort to raise interest rates even as high as double digits from here. Real estate will have a very turbulent cooling off period if we go over 4-5% soon, and it looks like we might. What will mortgage rates rising do to all the other markets?
I was loud about how bullish I am for the year but it is clear things have taken a turn for the worse. Inflation has gone up, not down. Interest rate hikes are, justifiably, more like 0.75-1 instead of 025-0.5 and even lower risk stocks have taken a beating over the last several months with no clear recovery in sight.
I sold plenty of high risk positions over the past several weeks in a controlled demolition and am not buying any more dips. Some of the ones I bought are flat and great for long term but that was just luck. If you did your DD and are in for the long term don't panic sell. If you want to get out of the game while still investing then start the VTI and chill strategy.
Everyone who needs their money in less than 10 years should think about what they are doing with it.
Please don't invest more than you can afford to lose. Build up your emergency and big purchase funds first.
