As the title goes, I am part of a somewhat sizeable group in a private company. Market making is quite a lucrative business and so I'm wondering whether anyone can act as a market maker in a private market. The biggest issue I can see is in handling net short positions. If I were to make an agreement with the group to borrow shares when required, could I act as a designated market maker, or is there additional restrictions that would prevent this from being a reality?
